h Gerber Stagecoach Stop
Born in 1847 in Switzerland, U. Gerber came to Wash. County, Oregon in 1876. His house and Gen'l Store, was built of hand Hewn Timbers from the Jones Sawmill on Cornell Rd. Later, this Building ...was also an Overnight Stage Stop. In 1878, it became Bethany Post Office until 1904 with Gerber as Postmaster. The name of "Bethany" was given to the farm community by Gerber, who passed away in 1909 -Tualatin Valley Heritage 8-18-79
